New training website makes registering for courses, workshops, events click

CAPCOG has modernized the navigation and added functionality features to an updated training.cacpcog.org to provide more accessible information about upcoming courses, workshops and events and to ease the registration process, so peace officers, emergency telecommunicators, emergency manager or older adults can better determine what events suit their educational needs and schedules.

In-service training for peace officers and emergency telecommunicators will continue to be the site’s mainstays as those discipline categories have the highest navigation priority allowing visitors to quickly narrow CAPCOG’s upcoming event catalogue to feature such courses, but the site’s homepage will showcase all CAPCOG’s upcoming events in calendar order. A main navigation bar lets users return directly to a discipline category after reviewing event details or completing a registration allowing them to find additional upcoming events that meet their needs. Website visitors also can add courses to their digital calendars and share events with peers. The website also was designed to be more mobile friendly for on-the-go phone and tablet users.

The payment process was streamlined creating an easier and more secure credit card payment method and a single electronic invoice process for remittance that emails registrants the bill and allows them to directly print it after registration. Greater cybersecurity measures also were installed so the website can scale its protections against cyber-attacks if the risk of threats increase.

CAPCOG events that don’t require registration such as board and advisory committee meetings will continue to be promoted on capcog.org.
