CAPCOG schedules four criminal justice grant workshops

CAPCOG’s Criminal Justice Program has scheduled four grant writing workshops to take place around the region: Dec. 17, 2021 at 607 North Vandeveer Street in Burnet, Jan. 7, 2022 at 106 Royson Street in Smithville, Jan. 11, 2022 at 402 West 8th Street in Georgetown, and Jan. 20, 2022 at CAPCOG. The workshops will assist organizations that seek funding from five Office of the Governor (OOG) Criminal Justice Division grant programs of which CAPCOG makes regional recommendations.

The five grant programs include the Criminal Justice Program, the General Victim Assistance Direct Service Program, the Juvenile Justice and Truancy Prevention Grant Program, the Residential and Community-Based Services for Victims of Commercial Sexual Exploitation, and the Violence Against Women Justice and Training Program. Each workshop will cover OOG and CAPCOG requirements for each program, the CAPCOG Criminal Justice Advisory Committee’s reviewing criteria, the region’s criminal justice strategic plan and funding priorities, and the grant application timeline. The OOG is anticipated to release its request for applications on Dec. 13, 2021, so the request can be reviewed before the workshops. The Plan Year 2023 regional budget estimate will be released to CAPCOG in March or April; for Plan Year 2022, CAPCOG received a regional budget estimate of about $10 million for the program areas with the most funding allocated to the General Victim Assistance Direct Services Program.
