CAPCOG supplies regional COVID-19 response, impact info

The information important to the region’s emergency managers related to the Coronavirus pandemic includes confirmed cases, deaths attributed to the virus, available hospital beds, location of testing sites, and other information was developed as an action and impact planning board by CAPCOG’s Homeland Security and Regional Planning and Services staff. This base level of visualized, regional information can be used for response and recovery purposes and to develop an understanding of how the virus is spread through the region.

Emergency managers and response teams have communicated routinely during the pandemic; however, these tools allow for those individuals and policy makers to see at a glance what is happening in neighboring communities. Doing so could be useful for sharing testing resources or implementing other responses strategies that may have been more successful in other jurisdictions. The data also could aid in determining how to allocate recovery resources for those impacted the most.

CAPCOG will continue to work on the tools by integrating new datasets as they become valuable to jurisdictions. The data is updated automatically from credible government and nonprofit sources.
