The CAPCOG Criminal Justice Advisory Committee will review 49 grant applications requesting more than $15.9 million from six criminal justice grant program categories, in which CAPCOG helps prioritize for the Office of the Governor (OOG), during presentations meetings March 20 and 21. Applicants from the Juvenile Justice Grant and the Truancy Prevention and the Criminal Justice Grant programs will present on March 20; General Victim Assistance Grant and Violence Against Women and Training grant applicants will follow on March 21. The CJAC will not hear presentations from Residential and Community-based Services for Victims of Commercial Sexual Exploitation (CSE) program applicants.
The OOG has yet to release the regional budget estimates for the programs, but the CAPCOG region has received more than $10 million across the programs for the last two years. The General Victim Assistance program received the largest and the CSE received the smallest regional budget estimates last year. The CJAC will score and prioritize the grant projects application based on CAPCOG funding priorities and scoring criteria. CAPCOG’s Executive Committee then will review and amend the prioritized recommendations, if needed, before submitting the recommendations to the OOG for a final funding determination.
