Criminal Justice Program sets workshops around region

CAPCOG has scheduled three grant writing workshops at different locations, so local governments and nonprofits planning to apply for state criminal justice funding have better access to attend a mandatory workshop. Last year, these workshops assisted 30 organizations in receiving $17.3 million from four Office of the Governor programs which CAPCOG helps administer— the Criminal Justice Program, the Juvenile Justice Grant Program, the General Victim Assistance Direct Services Program, and the Violence Against Women Justice Training Program.

The workshops will be from 1 to 4 p.m. January 10 at the Elgin Recreation Center, 361 North Texas 95 in Elgin; 1 to 4 p.m. January 16 in the Hoppe Room at the Blanco County Court House, 101 East Pecan Drive in Johnson City; and 9 a.m. to noon January 22 at CAPCOG, 6800 Burleson Road, Building 310, Suite 165 in Austin. Each entity seeking funding from one of the four state programs needs to attend only one workshop. Topics to be covered include what entities are eligible to apply, eligible activities, application requirements, funding periods, regulations, certifications, other grant rules, and CAPCOG and state priorities for each funding source.
