The CAPCOG Criminal Justice Program is seeking input from community stakeholders around the ten-county region as it begins the planning process for the Office of the Governor’s (OOG) Plan Year 2021 funding cycle. The gathered input will assist in drafting the 2021 Criminal Justice Strategic Plan and determining the region’s funding priorities, which provide direction to the CAPCOG Criminal Justice Advisory Committee for scoring applications for the OOG’s General Victim Assistance Direct Service, Violence Against Women Justice and Training, Juvenile Justice, and Criminal Justice grant programs.
To receive input, CAPCOG will hold four stakeholder meetings; they will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Oct. 8, 1:30 to 3 p.m. Oct. 8, 10 to 11:30 a.m. Oct. 10, and 2 to 3:30 p.m. Oct. 10. Each meeting will be one- and half-hours and feature a brief presentation about the upcoming plan year before moving into a group discussion about the criminal justice priorities for the region. CAPCOG will limit each meeting to 25 people to better facilitate collaborative input from multiple organizations. Interested stakeholders can register for a meeting at capcog.org/training/by-topic/planning-and-economic-development; but CAPCOG requests stakeholders only attend one meeting to maximize the amount and diversity of stakeholder groups.

CAPCOG also encourages all criminal justice stakeholders in the region, regardless if they plan on attending a meeting, to complete its online, criminal justice needs survey at surveymonkey.com/r/PGNFCHB. The survey will be available until Sunday, Sept. 22. Traditionally, grant applicants that participate in the stakeholder input process earn additional points toward their applications. Last year, two points were awarded for survey responses and three points were given for attending a meeting.
