Mandatory criminal justice workshops help maximize funding

The CAPCOG Criminal Justice Grant Program has scheduled two mandatory grant workshops — an in-person workshop to be held at CAPCOG at 10 a.m. January 10, and a virtual workshop set for 10 a.m. January 12. Would-be applicants need to attend one of the two, which will cover eligibility and the prioritization process for the five Office of the Governor Criminal Justice Programs that CAPCOG presides.

The workshops also will address each programs’ request for application (RFA), which is anticipated to be released by the state in mid- to late December; the application process timeline and key events; and the regional and state funding priorities. A mandatory civil rights presentation also will be provided. The workshops strive to help applicants create quality applications for the best funding source. Last year, CAPCOG evaluated and prioritized or scored 57 applications from regional organizations that were seeking about $14.7 million for plan year 2023 from the following OOG programs: the Criminal Justice Program, the General Victim Assistance Direct Services Program, Juvenile Justice and Truancy Prevention Grant Program, Residential and Community-based Services for Victims of Commercial Sexual Exploitation Program, and the Violence Against Women Justice and Training Program.

Applicants should register at training.capcog.org. CAPCOG will distribute additional criminal justice grant information such as the RFAs once available. To receive the information, contact Ken May.
