Mandatory workshops set for state homeland security grants

Three State Homeland Security Program (SHSP) grant workshops are scheduled to take place online from 1:30 to 4 p.m. on December 13, 16, and 22; it is mandatory that applicants attend one of the workshops which will discuss the application process and review the federal, state and regional requirements and priorities for the grant monies.

The grant workshops also will cover applicant and project eligibility; rules, regulations, and certifications; prohibited activities and equipment; investment categories; the grant review and prioritization process; and the program’s timeline and milestones. The priority funding areas adopted by CAPCOG include enhanced cybersecurity, combating domestic violent extremism, enhance the protection of soft targets and crowded places, enhanced information and intelligence sharing and cooperation with federal agencies, and addressing emerging threats. During previous years, between $1.3 and $1.8 million in SHSP funding was allocated to the CAPCOG region.
