CAPCOG RLEA graduates cadets, kicks off two new BPOCs

The CAPCOG Regional Law Enforcement Academy graduated Basic Peace Office Course (BPOC) No. 96 in early October with 16 cadets completing the course and earning their TCOLE basic peace officer license. On the heels of the exiting class, CAPCOG is starting its next two BPOCs — a nighttime course beginning October 10 and a daytime course starting November 7 — with 46 cadets currently enrolled.

With course No. 96’s graduation, CAPCOG BPOCs have helped more than 50 officers obtain their peace officer license and begin public safety careers in local communities in 2022. The latest cadets took more than 1,000 hours of instruction earning certifications such as crisis intervention, radar and LiDAR operation, OC spray, police driving, emergency communications, and the National Incident Management Systems. The cadets also participated in physical training meant to aid them in maintaining their health and fitness while serving as a peace officer.

The October course will run until August 2023 while the November course is anticipated to end in June 2023. The latter course is still accepting agency hired cadets from local jurisdictions, but not independent cadets. Law enforcement agencies can contact Terri Kroeger at [email protected] about enrollment. After the two courses begin, CAPCOG will begin recruiting cadets for BPOCs scheduled for mid-summer of 2023.
