TCEQ announces new round of emission reduction funds

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) announced about $4.6 million in grants for projects to implement new technologies that reduce emissions of stationary sources, with at least $1 million available for renewable energy electricity storage projects. The TCEQ will accept applications for the program until 5 p.m. Oct. 7, 2020.

Eligible entities must own and operate, or intend to build, own, and operate stationary sources in Texas. Projects types can include:

  • Electricity storage projects related to renewable energy with rated power of one megawatt or greater that efficiently makes stored energy available during peak energy usage periods.
  • Advanced clean energy projects involving the use of certain hydrocarbons such as coal, natural gas, or petroleum coke; biomass; solid waste; or derived-hydrogen fuel cells, while meeting minimum emissions reductions requirements.
  • New technology projects that reduce emissions of regulated pollutants from stationary sources.
  • New technology oil and gas projects that reduce emissions from upstream and midstream oil and gas completions, production, gathering, storage, processing, and transmission activities.

The New Technology Implementation Grant (NTIG) program is part of the Texas Emissions Reduction Plan.
