TDA announces CDBG program funds

The Texas Department of Agriculture opened its grant application process for the 2021 Texas Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program including the Community Development Fund and the Downtown Revitalization Program for which CAPCOG area jurisdictions may apply. The application deadline is May 3.

The Community Development Fund is the largest CDBG Program fund category. It is available on a biennial basis and funds projects in each of the 24 state planning regions. Although most funds are used for public facilities — water and wastewater infrastructure, street and drainage improvements and housing activities — it may support other activities.

The Downtown Revitalization Program provides improvements in downtown areas to address blighted conditions and encourage local economic development. It includes a set-aside for Main Street communities, and most commonly funds sidewalk improvements and related accessibility issues.

CAPCOG can provide assistance with applying these grant programs. Contact Rachel Ellis, CAPCOG grant specialist, to learn how CAPCOG can assist with applications.
