Aging Services’ Your Partner tour begins in Caldwell County

CAPCOG’s Aging Services Division will hosts its Your Partner in Serving Older Adults, Persons with Disabilities and Caregivers Workshop at the Caldwell County Justice Center, 1703 S. Colorado Street in Lockhart, from 9 a.m. to noon, April 29, to inform organizations about the services it provides as the Area Agency on Aging and the Aging and Disability and Resource Center of the Capital Area. While CAPCOG has offered these workshops quarterly since 2018, this will be first in-person workshop since the pandemic started and will kick off the workshop taking place around the region.

“This workshop is a great resource for organizations and partners to increase their familiarly with everything CAPCOG does for older adults and person with disabilities,” said Siena Lindemann, the CAPCOG aging services assistant director. “Taking the workshop on the road will let us personally connect to more organizations, build stronger cooperation between partners, and ultimately assist more residents.”

The workshop is geared towards nonprofit, healthcare, professional care, and local government organizations who serve older adults and person with disabilities. Subject matter experts from CAPCOG’s aging services programs will provide information about public benefits, such as Medicare; meal delivery and congregate meal options; care coordination; caregiver support and respite care; health and wellness programs; and ombudsman services. People can register to attend at training.capcog.org/class/view/your-partner11. The program is free, but seating is limited. The Aging Services Division plans to host the workshop in communities outside of Austin every other quarter.
